In the thirties the newly wed couple formed by Mr. Francisco Cerezo Sanchez and Mrs. Ana Maria Amez Correa, dreamed to establish a company. On a trip to Europe, while traveling through Spain, they visited some factories that produced candies, including Polvorones and Marzipan, which were made from an almond paste. Back in Mexico they decided to make a fresh style Mazapan but using our mexican peanut.

In 1940 they started the production of candies and chocolates, being their first development the cylindrical peanut candy called mazapan. To make it, Don Paco took the idea from the printing press and changed some of the parts, the result was the compact and circular form, making a new and unique product in the market.

The next developments were made with chocolate, like the tronquito, licor de costra dura, carlota, botellitas de licor, besides the sugar coated piñon, chocolate covered raisins and others. That’s the time when they started the company founded by Mr. Paco and Mrs Anita, whom always characterized for their fighting spirit. Their sons, who grew in the business, developed professionally to occupy different positions in the company.

In the 50’s, Cerezo’s brand has the recognition in the market, the production increased considerably so they moved to a new bigger location to satisfy the demand and develop new products with the help of new machines to improve the process and put into the market different products like marshmallows, gummie candies, tablets, and a chocolate line filled with cherry, liquor pineapple, rompope, strawberry and others.

In those days the mazapan sales have increased, so Don Paco designed a new machine to produce a bigger volume of that candy. This project took him 3 years and the results were the invention of the first automatic mazapan machine in all over the world. The company opens the markets and sold products to Government Institutions with candies with a high nutritional degree.

In the next decade Cerezo’s Company installed in a surface of 8,000m2, acquiring new machines to continue improving the production processes of all their products. At this time they improve new products like crystallized fruit and the Tamborcito (known today as Chocomazapan). In the 70’s the demand of the filled chocolates, took the company to acquire more machines. In 1986 they inaugurate the production plant for gummie candies, lollypops and caramels.

Currently Cerezo’s production satisfy the demand of several customers has wholesalers, price clubs, department, self-service and Government stores, and also D.I.F. systems.
